The Aegirine is the star of this piece, contrasted beautifully against it’s matrix of Orthoclase. A closer look shows some small Smoky Quartz adrift the top of the Aegirine.

Aegirine is in the Clinopyroxene group of Inosilicate minerals. It is the sodium endmember of the aegirine–augite group, with formula NaFeSi2O6 , in which Iron is presented as an ion Fe3+ .
