Smoky Quartz (on Matrix)
Smoky Quartz is a member of the Quartz family of crystals.
The Smoky Quartz crystal main termination has a mini sibling in it’s side, following the same growth direction as the main Smoky Quartz. They sit on a mixed base of Aegirine and Feldspar (Orthoclase) which form it’s matrix.
Smoky Quartz, formula SiO2 Gets it’s colour from natural radiations (from surrounding rock), which radiate Aluminium and other impurities in the SiO2
This Specimen suits the amateur, hobbyist, and seasoned collectors alike.
